CROCK POT BBQ RIBS

Crock Pot BBQ Ribs image

This is my own finger licking good recipe that is a hit every time and you don't even have to fire up the barbie!

Provided by fitmama

Categories     Meat

Time 7h10m

Yield 5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

3/4 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 lbs beef ribs
0.75 (16 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • Combine rub ingredients mixing well.
  • Rub on all sides of ribs.
  • Place ribs meaty side up in crock pot.
  • Cover; cook on low for 6 hours.
  • Drain the grease from the crock.
  • Place the ribs back in and cover with bbq sauce.
  • Cook for another hour.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Baby back ribs are the most popular choice for crock-pot cooking, but you can also use spare ribs or country-style ribs. Baby back ribs are more tender and have less fat, while spare ribs are meatier and have more flavor. Country-style ribs are a good budget-friendly option.
  • Prepare the ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs to help them cook evenly. You can also trim off any excess fat if desired.
  • Choose a flavorful rub: There are many different rub recipes available, so you can find one that suits your taste. Look for rubs that contain a good balance of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors.
  • Cook the ribs on low heat: This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from drying out. Cook the ribs for 6-8 hours on low, or until they are fall-off-the-bone tender.
  • Baste the ribs regularly: This will help keep them moist and flavorful. You can baste the ribs with the cooking liquid, barbecue sauce, or a mixture of both.
  • Serve the ribs with your favorite sides: Some popular sides for ribs include mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and baked beans.

Conclusion:

Cooking ribs in the crock-pot is a great way to achieve tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs without a lot of effort. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for an easy and flavorful way to cook ribs, give the crock-pot a try.
