ROASTED BRUSSELS SPROUTS

Roasted Brussels Sprouts image

This recipe is from my mother. It may sound strange, but these are really good and very easy to make. The Brussels sprouts should be brown with a bit of black on the outside when done. Any leftovers can be reheated or even just eaten cold from the fridge. I don't know how, but they taste sweet and salty at the same time!

Tips:

  • Choose firm, compact Brussels sprouts: Avoid any that are wilted or have yellow leaves.
  • Trim the Brussels sprouts: Remove any discolored or damaged outer leaves and cut off the stem end.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts at a high temperature: This will help them caramelize and develop a delicious nutty flavor.
  • Toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper: This will help them roast evenly and prevent them from drying out.
  • Add some flavorings to the Brussels sprouts: You can use herbs like thyme or rosemary, spices like garlic powder or paprika, or citrus zest. Just be sure not to overcrowd the pan, or the Brussels sprouts will steam instead of roast.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts until they are tender and slightly browned: This should take about 20-25 minutes.

Conclusion:

Roasted Brussels sprouts are a delicious and nutritious side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are simple to make and can be roasted with a variety of different flavorings. If you are looking for a healthy and flavorful way to enjoy Brussels sprouts, roasting them is the perfect option.
