Steps:

  • Insert lollipop sticks into 4 apples, one-third of the way. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and coat with cooking spray. Stir together 1 1/4 cups sugar and 1/4 cup each corn syrup and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and add 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring. Continue cooking, swirling the pan but not stirring, until a candy thermometer registers 290 degrees F, about 10 minutes; remove from the heat. Tips:

  • Select the right apples: Use firm, crisp apples that hold their shape well when cooked. Some good varieties include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
  • Prepare the apples properly: Core and peel the apples, then cut them into uniform slices or chunks. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven: This will help distribute the heat evenly and prevent the apples from burning.
  • Add spices and sugar to taste: The amount of spices and sugar you add will depend on your personal preference. However, a good starting point is to use 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and 1/4 cup of sugar for every 6 cups of apples.
  • Cook the apples over low heat: This will help them soften without becoming mushy. Cook the apples for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender but still hold their shape.
  • Serve the apples warm or cold: Rosy red Christmas apples can be served warm or cold. They are delicious on their own, or you can add them to oatmeal, yogurt, or ice cream.

Conclusion:

Rosy red Christmas apples are a delicious and festive treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal taste. So next time you're looking for a special dessert or snack, give rosy red Christmas apples a try.
