Time 35m

Yield 1 8X8 pan brownies

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/3 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup flaked coconut (optional)
2/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 eggs
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a 1 Qt glass canning jar, layer the first seven ingredients in the order listed, packing well between each layer.
  • Cover and store in a cool dry place for up to six months.
  • TO BAKE BROWNIES: In a bowl, combine eggs, oil, vanilla, and brownie mix; mix well.
  • Spread into a greased 8 inch square pan.
  • Bake@ 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right brownie mix. Not all brownie mixes are created equal. For this recipe, you'll need a mix that produces a fudgy, chewy brownie. Some good options include Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie Mix, Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix, and Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownie Mix.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the brownie batter will make the brownies tough and dry. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a silicone mold. Silicone molds are great for making sandcastle brownies because they're easy to remove and they produce clean, sharp edges.
  • Chill the brownies before serving. Chilling the brownies will help them to set and firm up, making them easier to cut and serve.

Conclusion:

Sandcastle brownies are a fun and easy way to dress up a classic dessert. They're perfect for parties, potlucks, and bake sales. With a little creativity, you can use different colors of frosting and sprinkles to create sandcastles that are as unique as your imagination.
