Yield Makes 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
6 tablespoons (packed) golden brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 ripe peaches, peeled, halved, pitted, each cut into 8 wedges
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons dark rum
Vanilla or peach ice cream

Steps:

  • Melt butter in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add sugar and cinnamon and cook, stirring often, until sugar begins to dissolve (mixture may clump together). Add peaches and vanilla. Sauté until peaches are tender, stirring occasionally, about 4 minutes. Remove skillet from heat. Stir in rum. Return skillet to heat and cook until sauce thickens, stirring frequently, about 2 minutes. Spoon peaches and sauce over ice cream.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, firm peaches: Peaches that are too soft will break down too much when sautéed. Look for peaches that have no bruises or blemishes.
  • Use unsalted butter: This will help prevent the peaches from becoming too salty. You can also use olive oil if you prefer.
  • Cook the peaches over medium heat: This will help prevent them from burning. Stir the peaches frequently so that they cook evenly.
  • Add a little sugar: This will help to caramelize the peaches and give them a nice glaze.
  • Serve the peaches while they are still warm: This is when they are at their best. You can serve them with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or yogurt.

Conclusion:

Sautéed peaches are a quick and easy dessert that is perfect for summer. They are also a healthy dessert, as they are packed with vitamins and minerals. So next time you have some fresh peaches on hand, try sautéing them for a delicious and healthy treat.
