SOUTHERN TEA CAKES
There were nine children in our family and Mother had to stretch the budget, so she made these often for dessert. I loved them when I was a child, and they're still a special treat. In fact, I've never met anyone who doesn't like these cookies. They're so simple and quick to make.

Tips:
- For a sweeter tea cake cookie, use 1 cup of granulated sugar instead of 1/2 cup.
- If you don't have buttermilk, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to 1 cup of regular milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes.
- Be sure to grease your baking sheets well, or the cookies will stick.
- Bake the cookies until they are just set in the center. If you overbake them, they will be dry and crumbly.
- Let the cookies cool completely on the baking sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Conclusion:
Southern tea cake cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are soft and fluffy, with a sweet and tangy flavor. These cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
