RIPE BANANA--SNOWBALL SALAD

Ripe Banana--Snowball Salad image

I was searching for something to do with my over-ripened bananas and came across this one from my husband's Oklahoman grandmother (one of the few dessert salads from Texhoma that doesn't involve jell-o!). I ended up making something else, but am collecting and freezing bananas to try this one. It looks tasty and super simple. Cook time is freezing.

Tips:

  • Chill before serving: It is essential to chill the salad for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the salad to set properly.
  • Use fresh fruits: Fresh fruits such as pineapple, mandarin oranges, and grapes add a burst of flavor and texture to the salad. Make sure to choose ripe and juicy fruits.
  • Drain the fruit: Be sure to drain the canned fruit well before adding it to the salad to prevent the salad from becoming too watery.
  • Use a variety of nuts: Different types of nuts, such as pecans, walnuts, and almonds, add crunch and flavor to the salad. Feel free to mix and match your favorite nuts.
  • Use a flavorful dressing: The dressing is what brings all the flavors of the salad together. Use a creamy and tangy dressing, such as mayonnaise-based dressing or a yogurt-based dressing.
