Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 1/2 c sugar
1 c sour cream
1/2 c unsalted butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 c mashed banana
2 tsp vanilla
2 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 c chopped nuts
BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING INGREDIENTS
1/4 c butter
2 c powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 Tbsp milk

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 375 & grease and flour jelly roll pan (15x10). Mix sugar, sour cream, butter and eggs in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 1 minute
  • 2. Beat in bananas and vanilla on lo speed 30 seconds. Then beat in flour, salt, and baking soda on med. speed, scraping bowl occasionally for 1 minute. Stir in nuts and spread in pan
  • 3. Bake until light brown, 20-25 minutes. Cool. Frost with Browned Butter frosting (see recipe below) and cut into bars
  • 4. Browned butter frosting: Heat 1/4 c butter over medium heat until delicate brown; remove from heat and mix in 2 c. powdered sugar. Beat in 1 tsp vanilla and 3 tbsp. milk until smooth and of spreading consistency

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your bars will be.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the bars tough.
  • Bake the bars until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the toothpick comes out with wet batter, the bars need to bake longer.
  • Let the bars cool completely before frosting them. This will help the frosting set properly.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the bars for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

Sour cream banana bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They're perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. With a few simple ingredients, you can have a batch of these bars ready in no time. So next time you're looking for a sweet and satisfying treat, give sour cream banana bars a try. You won't be disappointed!
