Tips:

  • Prep your ingredients: Before you start cooking, make sure to measure and chop all of your ingredients so that you have everything ready to go. This will help you stay organized and prevent any scrambling later on.
  • Use a large skillet: A large skillet will give you plenty of room to cook the chicken and mushrooms without overcrowding them. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from getting steamed.
  • Season the chicken generously: Don't be afraid to season the chicken liberally with salt and pepper. This will help to enhance the flavor of the chicken and make it more flavorful.
  • Cook the chicken in batches if necessary: If you have a lot of chicken to cook, you may need to do it in batches. Just be sure to cook the chicken in a single layer so that it cooks evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet: When you add the chicken to the skillet, make sure not to overcrowd it. This will prevent the chicken from cooking evenly and will make it more likely to stick to the pan.
  • Cook the chicken until it is cooked through: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. The chicken is cooked through when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make the sauce: While the chicken is cooking, you can make the sauce. Simply whisk together the sour cream, milk, flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  • Add the sauce to the skillet: Once the chicken is cooked through, add the sauce to the skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for a few minutes, or until it has thickened.
  • Serve immediately: Serve the sour cream mushroom chicken over rice or noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives, if desired.

Conclusion:

This sour cream mushroom chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The chicken is tender and flavorful, and the sauce is creamy and rich. Serve it over rice or noodles, and you have a complete meal that the whole family will love.
