STEAK SEASONING FOR THE STEAK HOUSE

Steak Seasoning for the Steak House image

This is the exact recipe we used at a local steakhouse where I worked for 15 years. It is great on pretty much any meat. You will probably want to use the conversion tool to make smaller batches. However, it will hold for a long time so if you like it make a nice big batch.

2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric

Steps:

  • Gather a medium-sized bowl, a gallon-sized plastic bag with a zip top, a pair of scissors and a spice jar with a shaker-type top. Measure out 2 tablespoons of Kosher salt and pour into the bowl. Add 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. Standard white sugar can also be used. Measure 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, garlic salt, onion powder, and turmeric. Add all seasonings to the bowl. Add 1/2 teaspoon of paprika and chili powder to the bowl. Measure out 1 teaspoon of black pepper and add to the other spices in the bowl. Fresh ground, medium-sized pepper is best for this mix. Stir mixture gently to incorporate all ingredients. Pour seasonings into a gallon-sized plastic bag, then seal. Shake the seasonings together in the bag until the seasonings appear to be evenly blended. Cut an edge off of one of the bottom edges of the plastic bags at a diagonal. The cut should be small enough for the tip of the bag to easily fit into the empty spice jar. Empty spices from the bag into spice container.

I got the original recipe on here (Steak Seasoning for the Steak House#18556 by Darin Craven). The orginal recipe is for restaurant use therefore has large measurements of the ingredients. At the suggestion of one of the reviewers, I scaled it down for home use. This seasoning can be used on any type of meat as well as on fish and poultry.

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE'S STEAK SEASONING RECIPE - (3.3/5)

Outback Steakhouse's Steak Seasoning Recipe - (3.3/5) image

Provided by รก-174942

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 dash coriander
1 dash turmeric

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. To prepare steaks with this seasoning: Preheat a flat grill or large frying pan over medium-high heat. Sprinkle some of the seasoning blend over both sides of each cut of beef. Grill the steaks on each side to your desired level of doneness. Be sure to use tongs to sear all the edges of each steak to a rich brown color. Todd's Tidbits: For a gourmet variation, add couple tablespoons of red wine to the pan on high heat after removing the steak. Stir the wine around to remove the browned reside from the pan (deglaze it), and when the sauce has reduced by a third or so, pour it over your steak -- flavor bonanza!

Tips:

  • Choose the right steak: Select a high-quality steak with good marbling. This will ensure that the steak is tender and flavorful.
  • Season the steak generously: Don't be afraid to use a lot of seasoning. The steak should be well-coated in a flavorful rub.
  • Let the steak rest before cooking: This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: This will create a nice crust on the outside of the steak while keeping the inside juicy and tender.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the steak is cooked to your desired doneness: Overcooked steak is tough and chewy, so it's important to cook it to the right temperature.
  • Let the steak rest before serving: This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

Conclusion:

With a little practice, you can easily create a delicious steak that will rival any steakhouse. Just remember to choose a good steak, season it generously, let it rest before cooking, cook it over high heat, and use a meat thermometer to ensure that it's cooked to your desired doneness. With these tips, you'll be able to enjoy a perfect steak at home anytime you want.
