- Line a 9-in. springform pan with parchment paper. Grease paper and sides of pan; set aside. In a bowl, combine the cake mix, orange juice, egg yolks and orange zest; beat for 3 minutes. Pour into prepared pan. In another bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved.
