Tips:

  • Choose the right pan: For this recipe, a 9x13 inch baking pan is ideal. It provides enough space for the batter to spread and rise, resulting in a perfectly cooked coffee cake.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can lead to a tough, dense coffee cake. Mix the batter only until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Use fresh baking powder: Baking powder is a key ingredient in this recipe, as it helps the coffee cake rise. Make sure to use fresh baking powder for the best results.
  • Don't overcook the coffee cake: The coffee cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Overcooking can result in a dry, crumbly cake.
  • Let the coffee cake cool before serving: This allows the flavors to develop and the cake to set properly. You can serve the coffee cake warm or at room temperature.
