I love this recipe because I can prepare the veggies the night before and, in the morning, brown the chicken and assemble everything in the slow cooker before I go to church. I can spend time with my family while Sunday dinner cooks.-Diane Halferty, Corpus Christi, Texas

Cover and cook on high for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a dumpling comes out clean (do not lift the cover while simmering). Yield: 6 servings. 12 points per serving

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken. For a stew, you'll want to use a bone-in, skin-on chicken. This will give the stew more flavor and body.
  • Brown the chicken before stewing it. This will help to develop the flavor of the chicken and prevent it from becoming dry.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in your stew. This will add flavor, texture, and nutrients to the dish. Some good choices include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and peas.
  • Season the stew well. Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic, and herbs to taste. You can also add a bay leaf or two for extra flavor.
  • Let the stew simmer for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to become tender.
  • Serve the stew with a side of bread or rice. This will help to soak up the delicious sauce.

Conclusion:

Sunday chicken stew is a classic comfort food that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple tips, you can make a delicious and satisfying chicken stew that the whole family will enjoy.
