CROCK POT CHOPS

Crock Pot Chops image

These sweet and tangy pork chops smell great as they cook all day and are a wonderful meal to come home to. Other cuts of pork would work in this recipe as well. Try some economical pork steak or a roast. I have even done this with strips and cubes and served over white rice. If you are salt sensitive you can use low sodium soy sauce. I use chenin blanc for the wine or a good chardonnay. Reisling might be a great sweeter wine to try here! A salad or veggie rounds out this meal really well.

Time 6h15m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 pork chops, about 1 in thick
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium is fine)
1/4 cup white wine (NOT cooking wine)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Steps:

  • Spray crock pot with cooking spray and place all ingredients inside.
  • REVISED: Some reviews stated that the meat was dry and cooked too long so I am revising the cooking time to low for 6 hours or until chops are tender. My crock is old and probably cooks slower- sorry!
  • Remove chops and thicken liquid in pot with a slurry of 1 TABLEspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 TABLEspoon water.
  • Return chops to pot and cook until liquid has thickened.

Tips:

  • Use thick-cut pork chops for a more flavorful and juicy result.
  • Sear the pork chops in a pan before adding them to the slow cooker. This will help to brown the meat and lock in the flavor.
  • Use a variety of seasonings to flavor the pork chops. Some popular options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Add some vegetables to the slow cooker along with the pork chops. This will help to create a more flavorful and nutritious meal.
  • Cook the pork chops on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender and cooked through.

Conclusion:

Tangy pork chops cooked in a crock pot are a delicious and easy weeknight meal. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and tender dish that the whole family will enjoy. Serve the pork chops with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
