THYME, SHALLOT, AND LEMON MARINADE

Categories     Lemon     Thyme     Shallot

Number Of Ingredients 0

Steps:

  • Whisk together 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 3 tablespoons dry white wine, 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, leaves from 1 bunch fresh thyme (12 to 15 sprigs), 2 thinly sliced shallots, and 1 lemon, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds in a shallow nonreactive dish. Makes enough for 2 pounds of meat or fish. Refrigerate until ready to use, up to 1 day.

Tips:

  • Always use fresh herbs and citrus fruits for the best flavor. Dried herbs and bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch, but they won't give you the same results.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different marinating times. The longer you marinate the meat, the more flavor it will absorb. However, if you marinate the meat for too long, it can become tough.
  • If you're short on time, you can always use a quick marinade. Simply combine the ingredients in a bowl or resealable bag and add the meat. Marinate the meat for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Once you've marinated the meat, be sure to pat it dry before cooking. This will help the meat to brown and crisp up.
  • When grilling or roasting the meat, be careful not to overcook it. Overcooked meat will be tough and dry.

Conclusion:

Thyme, shallot, and lemon are a classic flavor combination that can be used to enhance the flavor of a variety of dishes. Whether you're grilling, roasting, or baking, a marinade made with these ingredients will add a bright, citrusy flavor to your food. So next time you're looking for a way to add some extra flavor to your meal, give this marinade a try.
