Tips:

  • Select the right tomatoes: Use ripe, firm tomatoes for the best flavor and texture. Roma tomatoes are a good choice because they are meaty and have fewer seeds.
  • Core and dice the tomatoes: To core the tomatoes, use a sharp knife to cut out the stem end. Then, cut the tomatoes in half crosswise and scoop out the seeds. Dice the tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Peel and dice the apples: Peel the apples and cut them into small dice. You can use a variety of apples, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn.
  • Use a variety of spices: The spices in this chutney give it a complex flavor. Be sure to use a good quality garam masala, which is a blend of spices that typically includes cumin, coriander, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon.
  • Cook the chutney over low heat: This will help to prevent the chutney from burning and will allow the flavors to develop fully.
  • Store the chutney in a sterilized jar: This will help to preserve the chutney and keep it fresh for up to 6 months.

Conclusion:

Tomato apple chutney is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It is a great addition to grilled meats, fish, and tofu. It can also be used as a dipping sauce for appetizers or as a spread for sandwiches and wraps. With its sweet, tangy, and spicy flavor, tomato apple chutney is sure to please everyone at your table.
