2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh thyme
1 teaspoon finely chopped rosemary
1 teaspoon finely crushed fennel seed
1/2 teaspoon finely crushed red pepper flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh sage
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 small finely chopped fresno chili pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon maple extract (optional)

  • To make sage sausage, add in the chopped sage to the sausage base from above and cook as directed.
  • To make hot sausage, add in the cayenne pepper, chili pepper, and red pepper flakes to the sausage base from above and cook as directed.
  • To make maple sausage, add in the maple syrup and maple extract (if using) to the sausage base from above and cook as directed.

TSR VERSION OF JIMMY DEAN PORK BREAKFAST SAUSAGE BY TODD WILBUR

TSR Version of Jimmy Dean Pork Breakfast Sausage by Todd Wilbur image

It has been pointed out to me, and sufficient proof has been supplied to me, that this is one of Todd Wilbur's Top Secret Recipes. I can only say, if this is representative of his recipes -- I'm in, 'cause this one is spot on! So, credit where credit is due: Recipe created by Todd Wilbur www.TopSecretRecipes.com In Todd's original posted recipes - the Sage sausage posted here was "regular". Living in the UK at the moment, I dearly miss our sausages from back home... Stumbling on this was a lifesaver -- and I will *NEVER* buy breakfast sausages again now! One word of warning..you might want to ask your butcher to add a little bit of fat to the ground pork -- it's generally so lean it ends up being a little dry... even so, beats having a pan of grease after cooking up a few sausages! The maple ones seem kind of runny but they sure taste nice when they are cooked! Also, I have tried them with and without the MSG - and I definitely prefer them with. ** The nutritional information is incorrect - for a rough estimate divide it by 3. **

Tips:

  • Choose the right sausage: Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage is a great option for this recipe, as it has a mild flavor that pairs well with the other ingredients. If you prefer a spicier sausage, you can use a spicy breakfast sausage or even a chorizo sausage.
  • Brown the sausage thoroughly: This will help to develop the flavor of the sausage and prevent it from becoming greasy.
  • Use fresh vegetables: Fresh vegetables will give your breakfast casserole a more vibrant flavor and color.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the casserole tough.
  • Bake the casserole until it is golden brown and bubbly: This will ensure that the casserole is cooked through.

Conclusion:

This Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast dish that is perfect for a busy morning. It is packed with protein and flavor, and it is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
