TUNA OR CRAB MEAT DIP

Tuna or Crab meat Dip image

A quick, different (not onion) dip...which can be made a day ahead of time. My teens like the leftovers (if there are any) as a "sandwich filling". If you prepare it a day ahead of time, use fewer seasonings (salt, pepper, horseradish, Worcestershire, etc.) and adjust seasonings to your taste before serving.

Time 10m

Yield 1 1/2 Cups (approximately)

1 dash Tabasco sauce or 1 dash cayenne pepper (optional)

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  • Taste, and adjust seasonings to your preference.
  • Chill well before serving.
  • Serve with crackers or small slices of (pumpernickle) bread.

SHEILA'S SMOKED TUNA DIP

Sheila's Smoked Tuna Dip image

This is a Great Seafood Appetizer. It is easy and cheap to make but taste like a million. I assure you it is a crowd pleaser.

Provided by Sheila Queen

Categories     Spreads

Time 1h

Yield 1 1/2 cups, 3-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 (6 ounce) cans tuna in vegetable oil
5 tablespoons liquid smoke
3 tablespoons Mrs. Dash seasoning mix (the one with the green cap)
mayonnaise

Steps:

  • Drain tuna of as much excess liquid as you can.
  • You may use the new tuna in a pouch if you desire.
  • Once tuna is drained, place in bowl, add liquid smoke and mix well.
  • Cover container and let set 30 minutes to overnight.
  • The longer it sets the better it will absorb the smoke flavor.
  • Remove tuna from fridge and add Mrs.Dash, mix well.
  • Next add mayo 1 tablespoon at a time until you achieve the desired consistency.
  • Since this is meant to be eaten with crackers you want to keep it thick but creamy. (I usually use about 5 tablespoons).
  • You can also add chopped boiled eggs and extra mayo to this recipe to create an interesting tuna salad for sandwiches.

ALWAYS GOOD TUNA DIP

Always Good Tuna Dip image

I used to prepare this all the time when entertaining and it was always popular. The recipe calls for Italian canned tuna. This tuna is canned in olive oil and is very flavorful. If you can't find it, substitute a solid white albacore packed in oil.

Provided by Pamela Rappaport

Categories     Other Appetizers

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 can(s) italian canned tuna packed in olive oil, drained
1 stick butter, room temperature
1 Tbsp capers

Steps:

  • 1. Place everything in a food processor and pulse until well blended and capers are chopped.
  • 2. Scrape into a bowl and serve with pita chips, bagel chips or raw veggies.
  • 3. Refrigerate any left overs. It will harden when cold so let sit out to soften.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality tuna for the best flavor. Look for tuna that is packed in water or olive oil, and avoid tuna that is packed in oil or brine.
  • Use a variety of ingredients to create a flavorful dip. Try adding vegetables, herbs, spices, and cheese to your tuna dip.
  • Experiment with different types of crackers or bread to serve with your tuna dip. Try serving it with pita chips, tortilla chips, or crackers.
  • Make sure to chill your tuna dip before serving. This will help the flavors to meld and will make the dip more refreshing.
  • Garnish your tuna dip with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.

Conclusion:

Tuna dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up leftover tuna, and it can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. Serve tuna dip with your favorite crackers or bread, and enjoy!
