Time 13m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

12 jumbo pasta shells, fresh cooked
2 cans tuna in water, drained
1 avocado, diced
3 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons chives, chopped fine
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cantaloupe, cut into 4 wedges
1 cup baby greens
bottled balsamic vinaigrette

Steps:

  • In medium bowl, combine avocado, tuna, oil, lemon juice, chives and mustard.
  • Mix well.
  • Spoon mixture into shells.
  • Place 1/4 c of baby greens on 4 plates.
  • Top with cantaloupe wedge.
  • Arrange 3 stuffed shells per plate, around cantaloupe wedge.
  • Drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality canned tuna. Look for tuna that is packed in water or olive oil, and avoid tuna that is packed in vegetable oil.
  • If you're using fresh tuna, cook it until it is just opaque in the center. Overcooked tuna will be dry and tough.
  • Use a variety of vegetables in your salad. Some good options include celery, onion, cucumber, bell pepper, and sweet corn.
  • Add some herbs and spices to your salad for extra flavor. Some good options include dill, parsley, chives, basil, salt, and pepper.
  • Use a light dressing, such as a vinaigrette or a mayonnaise-based dressing. A heavy dressing will weigh down the salad and make it less refreshing.
  • Serve the salad immediately, or chill it for later. Tuna shell salad is best served chilled.

Conclusion:

Tuna shell salad is a classic summer dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and barbecues. It is easy to make, delicious, and refreshing. With a few simple tips, you can make a tuna shell salad that is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
