HERBED TURKEY LOAF

Herbed Turkey Loaf image

I found the original recipe in an old Family Circle magazine from 2002. I changed the main ingredient from turkey to Gimme Lean ground beef style soy. Instead of the egg and I used plain Silk Coffee Creamer to brush on the puff pastry. I also added some Worcestershire's sauce and a few drops of Tabasco, some fresh basil and ground sage as well as some cubed potato and Malibar spinach instead of regular spinach. I also sprinkled some black sesame seeds on top of the loaf for interest. You can probably use ground beef, ground chicken or some other ground meat in here if you prefer.

  • Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Fresh herbs, vegetables, and meat will make a big difference in the taste of your turkey loaf.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture. Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough.
  • Press the meatloaf mixture firmly into the loaf pan. This will help to keep it from falling apart when it is cooked.
  • Bake the meatloaf at a moderate temperature. A temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal.
  • Cook the meatloaf until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. This can be checked with a meat thermometer.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meatloaf.
