SLOW COOKER VENISON SLOPPY JOES

Slow Cooker Venison Sloppy Joes image

This recipe comes from my friend who is a guide in Alaska - it's excellent for sandwiches, on rolls with sharp Cheddar cheese. Yum yum! Slow cooked in a slow cooker so even the toughest of roasts or stew meats will work; eventually the meat just falls apart! Also good served over hot cooked rice. Delicious!

Tips:

  • Choose the right venison. Ground venison is available at most grocery stores, but you can also grind your own if you have a hunting license. If you're grinding your own venison, be sure to trim off all the fat and sinew before grinding.
  • Brown the venison well. This will help to develop flavor and prevent the meat from becoming dry. You should also drain any excess grease before proceeding with the recipe.
  • Use a flavorful sauce. The sauce is what really makes sloppy joes special, so be sure to choose one that you love. There are many different recipes available online and in cookbooks, so you can find one that suits your taste.
  • Don't overcook the sloppy joes. Sloppy joes are best when they're cooked just until the sauce is heated through. Overcooking will make the meat tough and dry.
  • Serve sloppy joes on soft buns. The soft buns will help to soak up the sauce and make the sloppy joes easy to eat.

Conclusion:

Venison sloppy joes are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a casual get-together. They're also a great way to use up leftover venison. With a few simple tips, you can make venison sloppy joes that are sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
