Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg, slightly beaten
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Whisk together to blend. In another mixing bowl, beat together the milk, buttermilk, oil, egg, and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients to the bowl with the wet ingredients and whisk just until incorporated and few lumps remain. Set aside to rest for 30 minutes. Preheat a waffle iron. Fill waffle wells and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. Cook until crisp and golden. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use buttermilk and club soda. Buttermilk adds a tangy flavor and tenderness, while club soda creates a light and fluffy texture.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in tough waffles.
  • Let the batter rest for at least 10 minutes before cooking. This allows the gluten in the flour to relax, which will also help to create tender waffles.
  • Cook the waffles on a hot waffle iron. This will help to create a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior.
  • Don't overcrowd the waffle iron. Cooking too many waffles at once can result in unevenly cooked waffles.
  • Serve the waffles immediately with your favorite toppings. Waffles are best when served fresh and warm.

Conclusion:

With just a few simple tips, you can make delicious waffles that will impress your family and friends. These waffles are perfect for a weekend breakfast or brunch, and they can also be served as a dessert with fruit or ice cream. Experiment with different toppings and flavors to find your favorite combination.
