RED HOT SLAW

This is a fabulous wilted bacon cabbage slaw with a beautiful, bright color that is really delicious. (You can use green but the color isn't as vibrant, obviously.) Even our 3 year old loved it! And it is super easy with (probably) things you'd have in your kitchen. Easy and wonderful presentation AND delicious.

1/3 cup cider vinegar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/3 cup water

Tips:

  • Choose the right cabbage: Red and green cabbage are the traditional choices for this salad, but you can also use other types of cabbage, such as Savoy or Napa cabbage.
  • Shred the cabbage thinly: This will help the cabbage absorb the dressing and make the salad more tender.
  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline: This will help you get even, thin slices of cabbage.
  • Don't overcrowd the salad: If you're making a large salad, use a big bowl or platter so that the cabbage has room to breathe.
  • Dress the salad just before serving: This will prevent the cabbage from getting soggy.
  • Be generous with the dressing: The dressing is what makes this salad so delicious, so don't be afraid to use a lot of it.
  • Serve the salad immediately: This salad is best when it's fresh, so serve it as soon as possible after you make it.

Conclusion:

Warm red and green cabbage slaw is a delicious and versatile salad that can be served as a side dish or main course. It's also a great way to use up leftover cabbage. With its colorful appearance and tangy flavor, this salad is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
