FRUIT SALSA WITH CINNAMON TORTILLA CHIPS

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips image

The fun of this recipe is that it can be tailored to your tastes. I'm a 'throw it in and see how it turns out' kind of cook, so please adjust the recipe to fit your own tastes. This recipe is best used immediately, as fresh fruit doesn't keep well in the refrigerator. If you prefer baked cinnamon chips, arrange the tortilla triangles in a single layer on a lightly greased baking sheet. Spray with cooking spray, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, and bake 5 to 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Watch them closely so they don't burn!

Tips:

  • Choose ripe tomatoes: The riper the tomatoes, the sweeter and more flavorful your salsa will be. Look for tomatoes that are deep red in color and free of blemishes.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh ingredients will give your salsa the best flavor. If you can, use homegrown or farmers' market produce.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables: The vegetables in your salsa should be cooked just until they are tender-crisp. Overcooking them will make them mushy and bland.
  • Season to taste: Taste your salsa as you are making it and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more salt, pepper, or chili powder.
  • Let the salsa chill: Chilling the salsa for at least 30 minutes before serving will allow the flavors to meld and develop.

Conclusion:

This warm southwest salsa is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. It is perfect for parties, potlucks, or game day gatherings. Serve it with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetables for dipping. You can also use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or enchiladas.
