A delightful wasabi dressing that I whipped up for coleslaw for Memorial Day but could be used in a vast variety of creations. If you want to increase the heat, add more wasabi or add red chili flakes. This can be used as a dressing, marinade, or dip. The possibilities are endless. Fish tacos, anyone?

WASABI SALAD DRESSING

Wasabi Salad Dressing image

Was looking for some new salad dressing that has spunk but unusual enough that you won't find in any store. This definitely meets the need and also goes great with most any meat or fish: tuna, salmon, chicken, shrimp, beef, etc. This stores well in the fridge.

CREAMY AVOCADO WASABI DRESSING

Creamy Avocado Wasabi Dressing image

This is a nice, tangy dressing, and also makes a good topping for crab cakes! Prep time includes refrigeration.

Provided by Julesong

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 1h

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tablespoons hot wasabi
1 ripe avocado, peeled,seeded,and chunked
1 tablespoon plain yogurt or 1 tablespoon sour cream
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pinch salt, to taste
1 pinch sugar, to taste
1 pinch black pepper, to taste
sake or dry white wine

Steps:

  • Puree all ingredients together well, adding sake or other dry white wine to the desired consistency, then chill for at least 1 hour.
  • Serve as dressing.
  • Also good with crab cakes!
  • Note: make sure to use a fully ripe avocado for this recipe! It needs to be ripe and rich - Californian (Haas or Gwen) avocados have a buttery and richer flavor than avocados from Florida or other areas. Otherwise your dressing will come out tasting a little flat.

Tips:

  • Make sure to use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • If you don't have wasabi powder, you can use prepared wasabi paste instead. Just adjust the amount to taste.
  • You can use any type of citrus juice in this recipe, but lime juice is the most traditional.
  • If you like a sweeter dressing, you can add a little honey or agave nectar.
  • This dressing is also great as a marinade for chicken, fish, or tofu.

Conclusion:

This wasabi lime dressing is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used on a variety of dishes. It's perfect for adding a little bit of heat and flavor to your favorite salads, grilled meats, or seafood. So next time you're looking for a new dressing to try, give this wasabi lime dressing a try. You won't be disappointed!
