WHISKEY SLUSH

whiskey Slush image

I got this recipe from the December 19,2010 San Antonio Express News. It is so refreshing all year round!

Provided by Isabel Vela

Categories     Cocktails

Number Of Ingredients 7

7 c water
2-3 family size tea bags
1 c sugar
1 16 oz container frozen orange juice, thawed
1 12 oz container frozen lemonade, thawed
1 1/2 c whiskey
1 l 7-up

Steps:

  • 1. Bring water to a boil and brew tea according to directions.
  • 2. Remove tea bags and add sugar, stirring until dissolved.
  • 3. Add juices and whiskey. Stir to combine.
  • 4. Pour mixture into a large container with a lid. Place in freezer for at least 24 hours
  • 5. Remove from freezer and dump frozen mixture into a punch bowl and pour 7-up over top.
  • 6. Stir to break upice and turn to slush. SERVE IMMEDIATELY.

Tips:

  • Choose the right whiskey. A good whiskey slush starts with a good whiskey. Look for a whiskey that is smooth and flavorful, with a bit of a bite. Some good options include bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey.
  • Use fresh fruit. Fresh fruit will give your whiskey slush a bright, refreshing flavor. Some good options include berries, citrus fruits, and tropical fruits.
  • Add some sweetness. A little bit of sweetness will help to balance out the tartness of the fruit and the bite of the whiskey. You can use sugar, honey, or agave syrup.
  • Don't over-blend. Over-blending will make your whiskey slush too icy and slushy. Blend the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Serve immediately. Whiskey slushes are best served immediately, while they are still cold and slushy. You can garnish them with a slice of fruit or a mint sprig.

Conclusion:

Whiskey slushes are a delicious and refreshing way to enjoy whiskey. They are perfect for parties, picnics, and hot summer days. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can easily make your own whiskey slush at home. So next time you're looking for a refreshing drink, give a whiskey slush a try.
