Oh, I just love rice pilaf! This one is from a Swanson Broth Creative Cooking recipe pamphlet. Just remember that the broth is already diluted, so don't add water! Also, feel free to add other herbs of your choice.

WHITE AND WILD RICE PILAF

Love the nut and cranberry combination in this dish as well as the two kinds of rices. Found it on a bottle of lemon juice from the grocery store, but that doesn't mean you can't use fresh lemon juice instead. Nice side for Thanksgiving. Cooking time includes a little prep time. If you only have fresh pecans, they can be toasted in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes (while rice is cooking). Wild rice and rice pilafs are classic Canadian fare, so I have posted this for Zaar World Tour 2005 (Canadian).

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the pilaf will be. Look for wild rice that is plump and has a nutty flavor. Use a flavorful broth, such as chicken or vegetable broth. And don't skimp on the butter or olive oil.
  • Rinse the wild rice before cooking: This will help to remove any dirt or debris. Rinsing the rice will also help to prevent it from sticking together during cooking.
  • Toast the wild rice before cooking: Toasting the rice will help to bring out its nutty flavor. To toast the rice, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the rice and cook, stirring constantly, until the rice is golden brown.
  • Cook the rice in a flavorful broth: Use a broth that is flavorful and complements the other ingredients in the pilaf. Chicken broth, vegetable broth, or even a mushroom broth can be used.
  • Let the pilaf rest before serving: After the pilaf is cooked, let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the rice to absorb the broth.

Conclusion:

White wild rice pilaf is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served as a side dish or a main course. It is a healthy and hearty dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. With its nutty flavor and fluffy texture, white wild rice pilaf is sure to please everyone at the table.
