A Unique & Yummy Salsa! image

I am a a stickler for using fresh ingredients so when my boyfriend from 5 years ago made this up for the first time I cringed! Pardon me for saying so, but if I hadn't have been living with him I never would have eaten it! Hahahaha!!!! The boyfriend is long gone but this is the only salsa I'll eat! If you aren't used to cilantro it may take a few minutes to grow on you - it did me. Give it a chance though. It is seriously yummy!!

Tips:

  • Select ripe tomatoes: Use ripe, flavorful tomatoes for the best salsa. Look for tomatoes that are deep red and free of blemishes.
  • Use a variety of tomatoes: Combining different types of tomatoes, such as Roma, cherry, and heirloom, can add depth and complexity to the salsa.
  • Roast the tomatoes: Roasting the tomatoes intensifies their flavor and adds a smoky touch. You can roast them in the oven or on a grill.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs like cilantro, basil, and oregano add a vibrant flavor to the salsa. Chop them finely before adding them to the salsa.
  • Adjust the heat level: The amount of chili peppers you add will determine the heat level of the salsa. If you prefer a mild salsa, use fewer peppers. For a spicier salsa, use more peppers.
  • Use a food processor: A food processor makes it easy to chop and blend the ingredients for the salsa. However, you can also chop the ingredients by hand if you prefer.
  • Chill the salsa before serving: Chilling the salsa allows the flavors to meld and develop. Serve the salsa chilled or at room temperature.
