Bourbon Mint Tea image

Celebrate the Kentucky Derby with this classic Southern cocktail.

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
8 teabags black tea
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
2 cups bourbon

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, boil 4 cups water. Add sugar; stir to dissolve. Remove from heat; add teabags. Steep 10 minutes; discard teabags. Add 4 cups cold water; transfer to a pitcher, and chill. Add mint leaves. Using a wooden spoon, crush mint until fragrant; stir in bourbon. Serve over ice.
