Chicken Cacciatore image

An Italian recipe made in the crockpot. For the chicken pieces, I generally use thighs.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 1/2 - 3 lb chicken pieces
1 onion, chopped
1/4 c oil
2 can(s) tomato sauce (8 oz.)
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp thyme
1 can(s) crushed tomatoes (28 oz.)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 clove garlic, minced
1 can(s) mushrooms, drained

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-low heat. Brown chicken on all sides. Drain excess fat. Transfer chicken to crockpot. Mix remaining ingredients in a large bowl and add to crockpot. Cook on low for 6 - 8 hours.
