Categories     Fish

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 fresh (or thawed) tilapia filets
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 teaspoon lime zest
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/3 cup flour [I used whole wheat pastry]
2 tablespoons olive oil for frying
additional honey + lime zest mixed for drizzling

Steps:

  • 60 minutes before cooking, season tilapia filets with salt and pepper then lay in a baking dish or into a large ziplock bag. In a bowl, combine olive oil, honey, lime juice and zest, and crushed garlic and whisk until combined. Pour over tilapia and let marinate for an hour. Add flour [+ a bit more salt, pepper, and lime zest] to a bowl and set aside. Heat a cast iron skillet (or a non-stick skillet) over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Dredge each piece of tilapia through the flour until you have a very light coating. Making sure the pan is hot, add tilapia to the oil and cook until flaky and crispy on each side - about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove tilapia from pan and let drain on a paper towel for a few minutes. Serve with an additional drizzle of lime + honey.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my fish turned out really bland. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Overall, I thought this recipe was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either.

The sauce was a little too runny for my taste. I think I'll try thickening it with cornstarch next time.

I found the fish to be a little dry. I think I'll try cooking it for a shorter amount of time next time.

This recipe was a little too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try it again with less honey next time.

I'm not a big fan of tilapia, but I really enjoyed this recipe. The sauce is what made the dish for me.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover tilapia. I had some fillets in the fridge that I didn't know what to do with, and this recipe was the perfect solution.

I love the combination of flavors in this dish. The honey and lime complement each other perfectly, and the crispy coating on the fish adds a nice textural contrast.

I've made this recipe several times now and it's always a crowd-pleaser. The fish is crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, and the sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy.
