Fastnachts (German Doughnuts) image

This is a traditional German recipe, usually made on Shrove Tuesday to use up the lard before Lent begins. Don't worry, you can fry them in vegetable oil instead of lard! Either way, they're delicious!

The recipe was easy to follow, but the doughnuts didn't rise as much as I expected. They were still tasty, though.

I'm not a fan of doughnuts, but these were actually pretty good. The dough was light and fluffy, and the glaze was the perfect amount of sweetness.

These Fastnachts were a bit too greasy for my taste. I'll have to try a different recipe next time.
