Grandma's Honey Baked Ham image

Granma made this long before anyone else used the name Honey Baked Ham.

1 (5 pound) fully cooked ham
1/2 c honey
1 c brown sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Score ham. Wrap ham in foil and bake for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, to make glaze, combine honey and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Simmer until sugar is dissolved.
  • 2. After the ham has baked 30 minutes remove from oven. Uncover and spread honey glaze over ham. Re-wrap and continue baking for about 1 more hour. Remove from oven and unwrap. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before cutting.

I'm not a big fan of ham, but I really enjoyed this recipe. The glaze was flavorful and the ham was moist and tender.

This ham was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was still very good. I would recommend using less honey in the glaze next time.
