At the end of the 19th century, Americans discovered one of Cuba's secrets: a simple combination of rum, sugar, and lime that achieved fame as the daiquiri, named after the town of the same name.

Steps:
- Combine lime juice, light rum, simple syrup, and ice in a cocktail shaker; shake well. Add more simple syrup to taste if desired. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with half a key lime.
