I love this recipe. Just 5 ingredients, and no need to chill the dough before rolling and cutting your cookies!

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 stick butter, softened
1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
2 1/2 c flour

Steps:

  • 1. Cream the butter with the sugar.
  • 2. Add vanilla and egg and beat well.
  • 3. Mix in flour a little at a time.
  • 4. To keep dough moist and pliable, separate dough into 4 parts, and work with one part at a time keeping the other parts covered or wrapped in plastic wrap.
  • 5. Roll to desired thickness and cut with your favorite cutters.
  • 6. Bake at 350F for 9-12 minutes depending on thickness. Cookies should be light golden brown when done.
  • 7. Decorate with cookie paints, colored sugars or sprinkles before baking, or with frosting or royal icing after baking and cooling.
