Delicious alternative to the usual American fruit salad, given to me by an accomplished hostess in Australia. This is so good it can be served for breakfast or as a side dish at any meal. If you prefer, you may substitute mangoes for the papaya (or pawpaw) with equally delicious results.

Categories     Tropical Fruits

Time 15m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 golden ripe papaya (There should be more papaya than banana and kiwi, about 2/3 papaya and 1/3 banana & kiwi)
green kiwi fruit (not the golden variety)
banana
1/2 orange
1/2 lemon

Steps:

  • peel and seed papaya, cut into cubes.
  • place papaya in a large glass bowl.
  • add sliced kiwis and bananas and mix well.
  • squeeze orange and lemon together, stir into fruit mix.
  • let stand at room temperature an hour or two, then refrigerate overnight for best results.

I love this salad! It's so easy to make and it's always a hit at parties. I usually double the recipe so that I have leftovers for the next day.

This salad was a disappointment. The fruit was bland and the dressing was watery. I won't be making this again.

Meh. I thought this salad was just okay. The dressing was a bit too sweet for my taste and the fruit wasn't as fresh as I would have liked.

I was a bit skeptical about the combination of fruits in this salad, but I was pleasantly surprised! The flavors all worked really well together and the dressing was delicious. I'll definitely be making this again.
