Perfect Crunchy Deep Fried Pickles image

It's taken me WAY too long to replicate a good crispy, crunchy fried pickle recipe! Most batters I try usually come out soggy and limp. But with the incorporation of panko. It makes this super crunchy! And stay that way too! I prefer to dip mine in either Ranch, or some french onion dip. Like Bison! So if you like a super crunch...

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

pickles (sliced or whole cut into slices of desired thickness)
panko
oil for frying
BATTER
1 c all-purpose flour
1 c milk
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp black pepper
2 small dash(es) hot sauce (nothing too over bearing!)
1 Tbsp dill pickle juice

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together all the ingredients for the 'Batter' and allow to sit aside for 5 mins.
  • 2. Cut your pickles into thin or thick slices. (Thinner does work better. But not paper thin.) Then dry them with some paper towel to remove the excess moisture. Place a few in the batter, then toss in the panko, and toss until fully coated. Repeat until all the pickles are cut.
  • 3. Place into a deep fryer, or pot of oil at 375 until a golden brown color is formed. Salt lightly immediately after they come out and enjoy dipping in some Ranch, or my favorite...French Onion Dip! :)

These pickles were easy to make and so delicious! I used dill pickles, and they were the perfect combination of crispy and tangy. I will definitely be making these again for my next party.

I followed the recipe exactly and the pickles turned out soggy. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

These pickles were a bit too salty for my taste, but other than that, they were great! The batter was crispy and the pickles were tender. I would definitely make these again, but I would use less salt next time.

I was skeptical about trying this recipe, but I'm so glad I did! The pickles were crispy and flavorful, and the batter was light and fluffy. I served them with a dipping sauce made of equal parts mayonnaise and Sriracha, and they were a huge hit.
