Pork Chops in Apple Gravy image

A few weeks ago I found a second-hand shop that had lots and lots of old recipe books. I have purchased several and have found this recipe. With Fall upon us, this recipe is perfect! What says, "Fall" more than apples and all the wonderful things that can be made from them....like applesauce? This great tasting recipe is from...

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 lb shoulder pork chops
1 Tbsp finely minced garlic
1/3 c flour
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
3 c boiling water
15 oz applesauce
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. Set oven to preheat to 425 degrees. In hot skillet, brown pork chops well on both sides (lightly spray skillet with cooking spray or use non-stick coated skillet. Don't use fat or oil). Place pork chops in a 3 qt. baking dish.
  • 2. In same skillet, saute garlic in pan drippings. Add flour, salt, pepper; Mix well. Add water; cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Add applesauce, lemon juice; mix. Pour over pork chops.
  • 3. Bake 1 1/2 hours or until tender--baste occasionally.
