Raw Chocolate-Spirulina Pie image

Chocolate and greens? Yes, chocolate and greens! This was my first experience making a "green" dessert and it did not disappoint. The cacao masks the flavor of the greens and the result is a delicious (and healthy) cheesecake-like pie. I know it sounds a bit strange but give it a try--it's really very good. Time 20m

Yield 1 pie, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups finely ground almonds
1/3 cup agave nectar
1 cup water
1/4 cup cashews
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup Agave
2 tablespoons cacao or 2 tablespoons carob powder
1 tablespoon spirulina (I used a green powder with a variety of greens)

Steps:

  • For the crust, mix almonds and agave in a bowl then press the mixture into the bottom of a 5 inch pie tin.
  • In a blender, combine the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Be patient; the cashews take a little extra time to fully grind. If you rush, your filling may be lumpy with pieces of cashews.
  • Pour mixture into pie crust and freeze.
  • Transfer to fridge about 10 minutes before serving. If the pie remains in the fridge for a while, the filling will melt and become runny.

This pie is a great way to use up leftover spirulina powder.

I would not recommend this recipe. It's not worth the time or effort.

I tried making this pie but it didn't turn out well. The crust was too dry and the filling was too runny.

The pie was very dense and heavy. I couldn't finish a whole slice.

I found the pie to be a bit too sweet. I would have preferred a more balanced flavor profile.

The crust was a bit crumbly, but the filling was delicious.

This pie is a bit too rich for my taste. I would have preferred a lighter chocolate flavor.

I'm not a huge fan of spirulina, but I really enjoyed this pie. The chocolate flavor is strong enough to mask the spirulina taste.

This pie is so easy to make. I was able to whip it up in no time. The hardest part was waiting for it to chill in the fridge!

I love the crust! It's made with nuts and seeds, so it's packed with healthy fats and fiber. It's also gluten-free, which is a plus for me.

This pie is a great way to get your daily dose of greens. The spirulina is undetectable in terms of taste, but it adds a nice nutritional boost. The chocolate flavor is rich and decadent, so you don't feel like you're eating something healthy.

I was skeptical about the spirulina but it really works in this pie. It adds a unique flavor and color that makes it stand out. The pie is also very satisfying and filling.

This raw chocolate spirulina pie was a delightful surprise! The combination of rich chocolate and earthy spirulina was unexpected yet harmonious. The texture was smooth and creamy, with a satisfying crunch from the nuts. Overall, a delicious and heal
