Scandinavian Hash (Biksemad) image

This is a very traditional Danish dish and one that merchant sailors love to make when they come off night watch and want a quick easy hot meal. It is so simple and very good. Great recipe for re-cycling left over roasts etc. Add some peas or some mushrooms, Any left over veggies. The egg is optional but don't miss out on it

This dish is a bit too spicy for my taste. I think I'll use less paprika next time.

I'm not a fan of the combination of flavors in this dish. I think the potatoes and beef are too overpowering.

I'm a vegetarian, so I substitute the beef with tofu. It works really well and the dish is still very flavorful.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my dish turned out really dry. Maybe I didn't use enough butter?

This is one of my favorite dishes! I love the combination of flavors and textures. The potatoes are crispy, the beef is tender, and the onions add a nice sweetness. I always serve this with a side of lingonberry jam.
