Yield 2 persons

Number Of Ingredients 11

Package boneless, fast-fry pork chops, cut in strips if you like (about 6 small thin pork chops)
handful or two frozen broccoli florets
1 onion, sliced
about 1 - 2 tbsp corn starch
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 cloves garlic
several grinds black pepper
1/3 cup or so mirin, or sherry (normally I'd use sherry, but I bought a small bottle of 'cooking mirin')
1tsp toasted sesame oil
tbsp or so oil
water as needed

Steps:

  • Combine pork, corn starch, and soy sauce in a bowl. Let it sit for a bit and while you cook the vegetables. Soften the onion and garlic in the oil for a couple of minutes, add broccoli and garlic. When broccoli is thawed, add the pork+soy mix, sesame oil, mirin or sherry, pepper, and as much water as needed to make a nice sauce. (I find pork comes out more tender if simmered than fried, which means immersing it.) Bring to a light bubble and cook 5 minutes or so, or until pork is cooked through. Serve with noodles or rice.

This recipe was just okay. The pork chops were a little dry and the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste.

This recipe was a disaster. The pork chops were tough and the sauce was bland. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what went wrong.
