Sweet Banana-Carob Shake image

I invented this one morning when I was just dying to combine these ingredients... worked very well, I must say. It's best if you give it 1/2 hour or so in the freezer so it gets more like ice cream than a thick drink.

Time 25m

Yield 2 cups, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 medium bananas, frozen
1 cup cold vanilla-flavored soymilk or 1 cup plain soymilk
1 tablespoon carob powder, sifted
4 soft dates (I used Parnoosh dates)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, to taste

Steps:

  • If dates have been refrigerated, warm them a bit in the microwave, to make softer and easier to blend.
  • Slice the frozen bananas, this helps out your blender :-).
  • Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender, and blend till very smooth (you'll have visible flecks of date skin but who cares).
  • Pour into 2 mugs and let them sit in the freezer for 20-60 minutes.
  • Enjoy your freezy treat!

I followed the recipe exactly and my shake turned out lumpy. I think I might have over-blended it.

This shake was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think I just added too much honey. Next time, I'll use less.
