Texas Hash image

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, sliced
1 bell pepper, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 can tomatoes, 16 oz
1 can tomato sauce, 8 oz
1/3 cup rice
1 cup water
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
pinch black pepper
2 garlic cloves, sliced
1/4 cup grated cheese

Steps:

  • 1. In large pan, cook beef, onion, bell pepper til the beef is browned. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, rice, water and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes til rice is done.
  • 2. Add cheese and cook til it melts. Serve with garlic bread and a green salad. Makes 4 servings. Note: Add mushrooms and green beans if desired.
