½ c. softened butter
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
½ t. vanilla
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 egg white lightly beaten
1 c. finely chopped walnuts
Jam

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugar. Add yolk and vanilla. Stir in flour. Chill until firm. Roll dough in small balls. Dip each in egg white then roll in chopped nuts. Place on cookie sheet. Press finger into centre of each ball to make a slight depression. Bake at 350 for 5 minutes. Press spoon into depression then continue baking for 8-10 minutes until set. Cool then fill with jam when ready to serve.
