APPLE SAGE STUFFING image

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup onions, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter
5 cups stale bread, cubed
1 1/2 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1 cup cooked ham, diced
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves, minced
2 large eggs, beaten lightly
1 tablespoon fresh sage leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried), minced
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh thyme (or 1/2 teaspoon dried), minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a skillet cook onion and celery in unsalted butter over moderate heat, stirring, until the vegetables are softened and transfer the mixture to a large bowl. Add the cubed bread, Granny Smith apples, ham, chopped walnuts, parsley leaves, eggs, sage, thyme, salt and pepper. Combine the mixture and let it cool completely.
