1 cup half-and-half or light cream
1 teaspoon minced garlic (2 cloves)
1 tablespoon finely shredded lemon peel
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 15 ounce cans cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
3/4 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
1 pound fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
3 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto

Meanwhile, wrap asparagus spears in bundles of 5 or 6 with prosciutto slices and place bundles on top of bean mixture. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese. Broil 4 to 6 inches from the heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until browned and asparagus is tender.

I found the gratin to be a bit too heavy. I would recommend using less cheese next time.

The gratin was a bit too watery for my liking. I think I would reduce the amount of milk next time.

This gratin was a bit too bland for my taste. I would recommend adding more salt and pepper, or perhaps some other spices.

I'm not a big fan of asparagus, but I really enjoyed this gratin. The white beans and cheese balanced out the flavor of the asparagus perfectly.
