Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my Aunt Evelyn.

Steps:
- 1. Peel and slice the number of potatoes needed to fill your chosen baking dish. Mix the potatoes and onions together in the baking dish. Salt and pepper the sliced potatoes.
- 2. Dot the top of the potatoes with butter.
- 3. Cover dish and cook for 1 hour at 350°F. Take out of the oven, cover potatoes with shredded cheese. Put dish bake in oven, uncovered, until cheese melts.
