Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh eggs, milk, and butter will give your cake the best flavor and texture.
  • Measure your ingredients accurately: Using the wrong amount of ingredients can ruin your cake. Be sure to measure your ingredients carefully, using a kitchen scale if necessary.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make your cake tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake at the right temperature: The temperature of your oven is important for getting the right texture. Be sure to preheat your oven to the correct temperature before baking the cake.
  • Don't open the oven door while the cake is baking: Opening the oven door will let out heat, which can cause the cake to fall. Resist the temptation to peek at the cake until it is done baking.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it: If you frost the cake while it is still warm, the frosting will melt and slide off. Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack before frosting it.
