Time 20m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 slices Cheddar cheese
2 extra-long hot dog buns
4 teaspoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup

Steps:

  • Place half the ground beef on a sheet of plastic wrap. Pat it into a rectangular shape, about 1/2 inch thick, 8 1/2 inches long, and 4 inches wide. Season with salt and pepper. Roll the beef into a log, using the plastic wrap as a guide. Season with more salt and pepper. Wrap the plastic tightly around the log and twist both ends tight. Pat gently to slightly flatten. Repeat with remaining ground beef.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate. Remove the burger dogs from the plastic wrap and place on the grill, perpendicular to the grates. Cook until burgers are browned but still pink inside, 4 to 5 minutes, flip, and cook another 2 to 3 minutes. Place a slice of cheese on each burger dog and grill to medium doneness (an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 140 degrees F/60 degrees C). Remove and rest 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Toast hot dog buns on the grill and spread each with 2 teaspoons mayonnaise. Place burger dog on each bun and squirt 1 tablespoon of ketchup on top.

Time 20m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2 tablespoons parsley, fresh chopped
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Prepare Burger Spread, set aside.
  • Prepare grill for direct cooking.
  • Combine beef, parsley, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into 4 1/2 inch-thick burgers.
  • Place burgers on grid. Grill, covered, over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes (or, uncovered, 13 to 15 minutes) to medium (160 degrees F) or to desired doneness, turning halfway through grilling time.
  • Remove burgers from grill. Place burgers between buns; top each burger with "Recipe#377604".

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality ground beef: The quality of the beef will greatly impact the taste of your burger, so it's important to choose a high-quality ground beef that is fresh and has a good fat content (80/20 is a good ratio).
  • Season the beef simply: Season the beef simply with salt and pepper, and avoid using any other spices or herbs. This will allow the natural flavor of the beef to shine through.
  • Form the patties gently: When forming the patties, do so gently and avoid overworking the beef. Overworking the beef will make the burgers tough.
  • Cook the burgers over medium-high heat: Cook the burgers over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving: Before serving the burgers, let them rest for a few minutes. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the burger, resulting in a more flavorful and juicy burger.
