BARBECUED SOYSAGE, APPLE AND CHEDDAR BURGERS
Steps:
- Preheat grill to high heat. Saute onion, garlic and all spices except dry mustard in oil if desired, allow to cool slightly. In a large bowl, gently knead in the spices, apples, garlic & onion. Add the romano cheese, salt, pepper and just enough barbecue sauce to moisten the mix a bit. If mix is too wet and doesn't hold together add more grated cheese or breadcrumbs. Divide mix into four large flattish patties,(don't compress too much) brush top with barbecue sauce and grill on well greased or sprayed grill on one side for 2-3 minutes, or to taste. Flip burger, brush top with sauce and grill 1 minute, top with cheddar. Grill till cheddar melts and burger is heated through, 1-3 minutes. Serve on onion rolls or other buns, with mustard, ketchup, etc.
Tips:
- Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. These apples will hold their shape when cooked and provide a nice contrast to the rich cheddar cheese.
- Shred the cheese finely: This will help the cheese melt evenly throughout the burger.
- Don't overcook the burgers: The burgers should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Overcooking will make the burgers dry and tough.
- Use a good quality bun: A sturdy bun will help hold the burger together and prevent it from falling apart.
- Add your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings for apple and cheddar burgers include lettuce, tomato, onion, and bacon.
Conclusion:
Apple and cheddar burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a burger that is both flavorful and satisfying.
